The situation

What has happened

Southgate Childcare Group employs 112 staff across four centres under the children's services award, with two centres on a different pay cycle. The fortnightly pay run for the period ending 13 September, job JB-26-2205, includes a room leader who has resigned with two weeks' notice and is owed a final pay with accrued annual leave and a pro rata long service leave question. Separately, a former employee has complained, entry CR-26-058, that her final pay was short and leave loading was not paid on her annual leave payout. The Payroll Manager wants the pay run for second-officer check by Tuesday and every correction recorded.

Your brief. Process the fortnightly pay run for Southgate Childcare Group including the termination under the award and the firm's procedures, calculate superannuation for the fortnight, investigate the leave loading question in the open complaint and record your findings, and prepare the pay run for the second-officer check before release.

What to look for

Evidence guide

The final pay must apply the award correctly, including leave loading on unused annual leave where the award provides it, with the right tax and superannuation treatment for each component. Look for the complaint finding to be evidence-based and recorded plainly, superannuation calculated on ordinary time earnings, and a second-officer checklist that would actually catch errors.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
